As a veteran classroom teacher, summers have always been such an exciting time of revitalization for me! Not only have I been able to spend more time with friends and family and more time doing things I enjoy doing, but I have also been able to toss out the things that weren’t working well for me in the classroom and create new ideas to try in the fall. I have carried the practice of revitalization into my piano studio as well even though I teach year round. For me, as well as the students, there is nothing more exciting than a fresh start, so I use the summertime to plan a new incentive program, create a new game, work on incorporating a new idea into my studio, etc. The students are always excited to see what’s new each fall!
As we move into the 2018-2019 school year, DVMTA needs a bit of revitalization as it faces some modern challenges such as the rising cost of putting on each of our wonderful events. The new board with the help of the outgoing board, all of our wonderful members AND our student families all need to work together in the coming months to generate ways to keep DVMTA events thriving! I’d like to challenge everyone to check the website and your email often even though it is summertime. Keep alert to see if there is any way you can help as DVMTA works to come up with creative ways to keep our organization and its events vibrant and flourishing! Together we can continue to provide the wonderful experiences we have offered the students in the east valley for so many years!
Whether you are traveling, spending time with family and friends, teaching or working on revitalizing your own studio, have a wonderful summer and gear up for a swimmin’ good time this fall as we plunge into another fabulous year in DVMTA!
