Our final event of the year! Awards Plus celebrated 18 Devoted Performers and awarded 2 Senior Scholarships. What dedicated and amazing students we are privileged to teach! Lorri McHardy organized the event, which was held at Legacy Retirement Residence in Mesa. 

Two Senior Scholars and one Awards in Excellence winner performed beautifully. Congratulations to them!

Achievement Day was held at MCC Performing Arts Center, a new venue this year! 215 students celebrated their accomplishments for the year by being evaluated and tested by DVMTA teachers in the areas of Theory, Technique, Sight Reading, Ear Training, Composers, Composition, and Duets Many hands are required to make this day a success. Thank you to Carolyn Rooder and Beth Christensen for organizing, and for all those many helpers who contributed so much!

We look forward to our April Brunch to celebrate our DVMTA past year as we enjoy delicious food and visit with our fellow members and friends. Many thanks to Linda Carpenter and the Brunch committee for a great morning. 

April Brunch is also a time to recognize all the wonderful and selfless contributions of so many members. Special recognition was given to Board and Committee Members.

Awards in Excellence Auditions were held April 15, 2017 at Arizona Piano.  The Winners Recital took place one week later on April 22, 2017. Students played two leveled  memorized pieces from DVMTA' s Repertoire List and were scored by selected adjudicators. There were 67 students from 12 DVMTA teachers who participated. Many thanks to Alayne Favreau, Fei Xu, Hong Zhu, Lori Weidemann and Wendi Heslop for organizing the details.

There were two Winners Recitals, at 1:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. Students performed beautifully, and were well prepared. Congratulations to all who participated and to those who won and received Honorable Mention. 

DVMTA was happy to award the Janeen Noble Outstanding Music Student Award to Rebecca Eldredge, student of Lorri McHardy.
