Welcome back to a new year that is certain to look unlike any other! Who would have imagined we would be experiencing what we are, but I will say, the Desert Valley Music Teachers’ Association is alive and well, after a tumultuous, yet successful 2019-2020 season! We worked together to come up with new ways to host our DVMTA events, shared our challenges and victories with one another in order to improve, and found ways to use technology that, had we not been forced into, we may never have tried. I am so grateful for the members who have come alongside me to brainstorm, strategize, and share ideas they have used as we navigate these uncertain times.
As we kick off another exciting year, the phrase “Better Together” is constantly on my mind. The purpose and strength of DVMTA is working together to achieve that which we could not do on our own, and we are committed to maintaining the highest standards within the current environment, while continuing to provide opportunities in which students and teachers can thrive. With all the social distancing, Zoom meetings, and virtual lessons, we have been forced to keep our distance, yet we long to BE with our students again and work alongside our fellow educators. Staying connected will be more important than ever, so let’s look for ways to encourage and support one another because, ultimately, we are better together!
