Our first General Meeting for members was a great success. We were privileged to have Dave and Josh Thye present "The Character Building Aspects of Performing." The father and son duo are very accomplished conductors and musicians, and shared many of their philosophies and experiences as they have taught and continue to teach. We appreciated their words of wisdom, they are an inspiration to teachers and students.
Welcome to the new DVMTA year 2019-2020!
Our DVMTA kick off Brunch was a huge success as we look to "Embrace the Future" in another exciting year of events of activities. Members and guests enjoyed great food, visited and were presented with information for this year's meetings and events. DVMTA President Carolyn Rooder encouraged members to look to the future as we adapt our teaching and planning to better serve our members and students. We're looking forward to a great year! Special thanks to Amy King and the August Brunch Committee for the fabulous food and fun!

DVMTA's last General Meeting of the year is the April Brunch. We love getting together to enjoy good food and to reminisce about the events and activities this past year. It's also a time to finish preparations for the upcoming Achievement Day. This year's Brunch was excellent, and it was a great time for all. President Carolyn Rooder spent time thanking all who served on this year's committees, and all members who helped during the year. She gave a special tribute and presented a gift to Alayne Favreau, one of our dedicated members, who is leaving our organization to serve a religious mission for her church. She will be missed! Thank you to Corinne Walker and all who helped to make the morning wonderful!
Dr. Mandarin Cheung-Yueh was our guest speaker at the March General Meeting and presented "Repertoire for Advancing Students". She discussed how teachers can effectively help students advance to more difficult repertoire through focusing on different aspects and definitions of transition. We were privileged to also hear her perform an amazing piano duet with Snezana Krstic.
