In the next couple of months, you may be approached to take on a service position. I’d like you to strongly consider this great opportunity, even if you have reservations about your qualifications or your ability to add one more thing to your already busy schedule! We, who have served, have all felt like this, but if you were to ask any of us, most of us would agree that serving the organization has indeed enriched our lives in many ways!
It is also important to remember that our organization functions solely on our members’ willingness to serve. No events would take place without members dedicated to making them happen! The opportunity to serve on the board is available to all DVMTA members! Serving on the board keeps the organization alive but provides members with additional benefits as well! Board members get to see, firsthand, what it takes to run our organization. They get to have input on organizational decisions. They get to problem solve together and exchange ideas. And my personal favorite – they get to form lasting friendships! I’ve said it before, but I will say it again, I have never worked with a nicer group of people than the members of DVMTA! No matter what position you might take on, there are always many people willing and able to help you carry out your responsibilities. I hope you will seriously consider stepping into a service position if and when you are asked. EVERYONE has something valuable to contribute to this organization, and DVMTA needs YOU!
