The Dress Rehearsal for Cavalcade of Rhythm was a huge success. Students arrived at Mesquite High School and were directed where to sit during the performance, where to go to get onstage, and how to get back to their seats. Most importantly, they had time on the stage to run through their amazing pieces to get ready to perform their Music at the Movies!

February is always a busy month with Cavalcade of Rhythm group rehearsals, and we were thrilled to be able to gather together this year to practice our fabulous duets. Students attended three rehearsals over the period of three weeks before the performance to learn how to follow the conductor and work together. Amazing progress was made by these committed students. Many thanks to all the teachers and volunteers who helped run and direct the rehearsals, to the parents for getting their children there, and to The Music Store for hosting us. We can't wait for performance day!
DVMTA students were busy composing and recording their original compositions for this year's Festival, held November 13th and 14th at Southeast Valley Bible Church. Three recitals were held over two days to showcase 72 student compositions. Each student submitted their composition with a recording in October, and each was evaluated by Penni Scott. Students received wonderful remarks and suggestions from Ms. Scott, and we are grateful for the time she spent helping these young composers. Many thanks to Claire Westlake, the Original Composition Chair, along with committee members Debbie Engelsman and Jessica Heidt. Thanks also to all the DVMTA teachers who helped their students prepare their compositions.
DVMTA's annual Music Marathon was held on October 16, 2021. This all day recital took place at various locations in the east valley, including Superstition Springs Mall, Southeast Valley Bible Church, and Cornerstone Reformed Baptist Church. 430 students from 23 different teachers participated. Due to COVID-19 we were still unable to perform at retirement communities, but were thrilled to be able to perform live. An virtual option was also provided for any students wishing to submit their performance recording. The event was a great success, with many students dressing in their Halloween costumes to perform. We really love this event, which offers students the opportunity to have a lot of fun in a low stress environment. Thank you so much to Cavalcade committee members Charles Newton, Diana Palmer and Lori Kaye Faler.
