I see a bit of the same uneven progress in many of my students. Some will make only token efforts during the winter, progressing but rather slowly. With the upcoming spring recitals and Achievement Day, they are practicing better, growing extraordinarily quickly like my snapdragons. Those imminent performances push them to bloom as much as they can. I’m grateful for DVMTA events like Achievement Day that give my students goals to work toward. I use an annual incentive program in my studio, and the students make progress, but when faced with the extra incentive of Achievement Day, they are more motivated.
This reminds me yet again of the beauty of DVMTA, the collaboration that allows us to put on these events for our students. Thank you to all the chairman and committee members that have worked (and will yet work) this year to bring these events to pass. Thank you to every teacher that has volunteered their time and energy to DVMTA. My students are blooming beautifully because of you!
