DVMTA Current OrganizationThe Desert Valley Music Teachers Association's by-laws and Standing Rules have been drawn up to keep this organization strong and faithful to its purpose, which is:
We have evolved into a dynamic, professional organization with members participating in monthly meetings for continuing professional growth in many areas which include: workshops in technology, new teaching ideas and materials, expanded repertoire, various genres of music, performance, and studio organization. These meetings are taught by professionals from within and outside DVMTA. Six student performance and awards events are held each year with hundreds of students participating in each event. Members put in many hours each year to make these events successful. Students consistently go on to win national awards and study music in college and professionally. They often become teachers who come back to be members of this organization or other professional organizations around the country. Currently, DVMTA is on a strong financial footing. Its membership consists of teachers who are committed to working for a strong, stable, and growing organization that will continue to support and enrich the members, students, parents and community. |
History of DVMTAThe Tempe Music Teachers Association was founded in 1980 to meet the needs of music teachers in the Tempe area and the surrounding community, under the direction of Betty Schmuck. As we have grown to serve musicians in several communities, we changed our name to Desert Valley Music Teacher's Association (DVMTA) in 1993.
