- other information relevant to DVMTA event registration
From those using our Find a Teacher link, we may collect:
- name
- contact information including email address
- any personal information voluntary given in the Tell us about your students box
Event chairmen who put contact information on registration forms need to be aware that the information is publicly available. Links to registration forms are under the Events tab and can be accessed without a password. A link to the most recent member newsletter is also on the web page, so any contact information given for registration can be accessed without a password. New members will be mentioned by name in the newsletter, but all contact information will be held in the secure database.
What we do with the information we gather
The members' information is used to understand your needs and provide you with better service, in particular for the following reasons:
- Internal record keeping
- A voluntary teacher referral service
- Event registration
- A current roster of leadership and general membership, accessible by password to any registered member
The information from the Find a Teacher link:
- Is used to calculate teachers within a given radius of the address provided
- Is given in a link provided to the teachers you choose so they may contact you directly
Security
We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
Our standing rules allow the purchase of mailing list labels by a third party. We also allow the purchase of a mass email announcement. We retain complete control of all email addresses; none are sold, distributed or leased to any third party. Only third party information pertaining to music, concerts, workshops and professional development opportunities will be considered for dissemination to the general membership.
Only the webmaster, president, vice-president and membership chairman will have administrative access to teacher profile information.

- Members may opt out of the teacher referral service on their annual membership form or by editing their online profile in the Members section of the website at any time.

- Those using the Find a Teacher link may choose how much information to include when seeking out a teacher.
If members' personal information changes, they may edit their own profiles. Members may also review what personal information DVMTA has on file by contacting the president.
