Marathon - September 26, 2009

The
Desert Valley Music Teachers Association will soon be
sponsoring its 28th annual Music
Marathon. The
Marathon is a series of continuous recitals to promote
music scholarships for worthy students and is meant to
provide a fun and different performance opportunity.

Composition
Festival - November 21 and 22, 2009
This
event celebrates original compositions written by student
composers. Pieces are written, recorded, and an evaluation
is done by a professional composer. Students then perform
their compositions at one of the recitals, and a trophy
and certificate are presented to each young composer.

Cavalcade
of Rhythm - March 6, 2010
“Monster
Concert” as featured on the Valley Dish, Channel 12,
Arizona at 4:30 on March 1, 2010. To see a select
group of our performers and hear a sample of this
year’s music, please follow the link to view the “In
Your Neighborhood” feature from the newscast.
The
performance of 500+ students of all ages is at at
Mountain View High School.
The theme is Super Songwriters. Fifteen
groups with approximately 40 performers at 20
pianos performs entertaining music to an appreciative
audience. Students
rehearse for the 3 weeks before at My First Piano.

2010
Awards in Excellence Winners and Honorable Mentions
This
is a competitive event open to 8 students from any given
teacher’s studio. Students play two memorized pieces
from a repertoire list for a judge. Winners in each
level receive a cash scholarship and trophy, and
honorable mentions receive a trophy.

Janeen
Noble Outstanding Student Scholarship
This
award is given in honor of Janeen Noble…a friend, a colleague,
and a long time member of the DVMTA.
Ms. Noble was not only an outstanding pianist but also
excelled as a gifted violinist, singer, composer and arranger.
She was an excellent piano teacher and a valued
accompanist for many school, church, and civic functions. She
held board and chair positions with DVMTA for many years.

Awards
Plus Devoted Performer and Senior Scholar - May 17, 2010
This
is an annual award of $100 given to devoted students who
continually participate in DVMTA’s yearly events. The awards
are dependent upon available funds and will be decided by the
Awards Plus Committee and DVMTA’s Board of Directors.

Day - May 15, 2010
This
year-end activity celebrates are rewards successful
performance and music related activities at each level.
Ribbons and trophies are given for successful completion
of the requirements.
